What We Believe
Simply Christian…nothing more.
The Bible, God’s inspired word to man, describes the group of people who follow Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior as “Christians” (Acts 11:26; Acts 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16). They were a part of the church that Jesus built (Matthew 16:18). Note that they were not added to one of the many denominations that exist today. They were simply called Christians.
We believe that if we follow the pattern for the church that we find in the Bible, we too can be simply Christians. We spend time in the study of the Bible and work to follow the pattern we find there of how to become Christians, how to worship our Lord as Christians, how to live our lives, and raise our families as Christians.
Our plea is a call back to the Bible. Our hope is for you to join us in our study of Scripture in doing those things that New Testament Christians did in service to their Lord.
We are simply Christians, striving to let the Bible be our guide and pattern.

God
We believe in the one true God, the great “I AM,” who is the source of life and worthy of our complete devotion. Because of His love, mercy, and grace shown through the gift of His Son, we seek to love Him wholeheartedly and serve others as He has served us.
Jesus
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man, who lived without sin and gave His life on the cross for our sins. He rose on the third day, ascended to the Father, and will return in power and glory.

Worship
We gather on the first day of every week to worship God through prayer, the teaching of His Word, giving, the Lord’s Supper, and congregational singing without instrumental accompaniment. We seek to follow the pattern for worship given in the New Testament and to encourage one another through songs, hymns, and spiritual songs. Jesus teaches in John 4:23–24 that true worship is offered in spirit and truth. That means our worship should be directed to God, offered with the right heart, and guided by His Word (John 17:17).
At Northside, we want our worship to reflect the same goal we have for our lives: to faithfully honor and please God.
Salvation
We have no creed but Christ and believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Salvation comes through hearing and believing the gospel (Romans 10:17), turning from sin (Luke 13:3; Romans 6:10), confessing Jesus as Lord (Matthew 10:32–33; Romans 10:10), and being baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16). We then seek to walk faithfully with Him, trusting in His grace and forgiveness when we fall short (1 John 1:5–9).
The Church
We believe there is one church, the spiritual body of Christ, with Jesus as its head (Ephesians 4:4; 1:22), and that God adds the saved to His church (Acts 2:47). Because Scripture provides everything needed for faithful Christian living (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:3), we seek to follow the pattern of the first-century church, including being shepherded by a plurality of qualified elders (1 Timothy 3:1–8).
